Visitors can explore Changshou Lake in multiple ways. The official Lake Park offers a structured experience, while cycling along the lake’s scenic paths provides a more leisurely way to soak in its beauty.
The lake is also celebrated for its abundant fish, a highlight for food lovers. Numerous restaurants line the lakeside road, serving fresh, delicious fish dishes that showcase the region’s culinary charm.
The Meaning of Changshou
The meaning of Changshou in Chinese is 长寿. It means longevity. Changshou Lake means Longevity Lake.

Drone
Flying a drone is possible at Changshou Lake. Please be aware that high restrictions are in effect in this area.
Do not fly your drone near Changshou Lake Dam as it is a restricted area.
Pets
Pets and domestic animals must be on a leash at all times. You are responsible for their behaviour and must dispose of their excrement.

Train
Destination Station: Changshouhu (长寿湖)
High-speed train departs regularly to Changshouhu (长寿湖) from Chongqingbei (重庆北) and Chongqingxi (重庆西).

Travel Time: Around 30 minutes
Parking
Paid parking is available at the scenic area. Free parking along the road is available in some less popular areas. You can use your map to find routes that go along the lake and park your car on the side of the road.

Swimming
Swimming in the lake is not recommended. The average depth of water is 15 meters, with some parts going over 40 meters.

Hiking
For your own safety and the preservation of the park, obey posted signs and keep to designated trails. Shortcutting trails destroys plant life and soil structure.
Hiking trails are available at the scenic park. Free trails may also be available, but not well-maintained.
Boating
Hop on a boat to visit one of the islands or just enjoy the beautiful view of Changshou Lake.
Cycling
Changshou Lake offers a great opportunity for cyclists to bike along the lake. There are paved roads you can ride on. Some sections are recommended for beginner bikers while others are recommended for experienced bikers, as some parts may be steep and windy.
Cyclists are reminded to be cautious with other road users, such as motorcycles and vehicles. Please be courteous to other users on the trail.
Bike rentals are not available at this place. Please bring your bike.
Bicycle helmets are not required but strongly recommended.
There is no loop trail to go around the entire lake. At least I haven’t seen it.
Fishing
Changshou Lake is famous for its super tender and delicious fish. It is a popular destination for fishing.
Fishing is also possible at some camping sites. There might be a fee associated with fishing charged by the campsite owner.
Camping
Free and paid camping are available at Changshou Lake.
For overnight camping, please consider a paid campsite to ensure access to safety, water and restrooms. Paid camp sites are available on Tai-chi Island (太极岛).
There are a lot of tourists camping on the back side of the Changshou Lake dam. It has a small area of grassland and creeks. View location on AMap

The Changshou Lake scenic area involves taking a shuttle bus to travel from place to place.
Paved roads make it possible for stroller users, but they will need to share the road with vehicles.

Good cell service connection along the trail.
Restroom
Restrooms are not widely available, especially when you visit less popular areas. Most restrooms are located near the scenic area and parks.
