Baigongguan Historical Site Highlights
Baigongguan, also known as the White Residence, was originally a suburban villa belonging to Sichuan warlord Bai Ju. Fancying himself a descendant of the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi, Bai Ju named the villa “Xiangshan Villa” after the poet’s courtesy name, “Xiangshan Jushi.” Local residents, following regional custom, referred to itas “Baigongguan” or the White Residence.
Covering a total area of 3,000 square meters with a building area of 1,130 square meters, the site includes a main building with 10 rooms across two floors, an auxiliary building with 5 rooms, and 16 interrogation cells used for torture.
Today, Baigongguan is a historical site, along with Zhazidong Prison Historical Site, to reveal a heavy chapter of Chongqing’s history.

- Get off at Baigongguan Station
Bus
Tour bus T198 travels between different historical sites on Gele Mountain, including Zhazidong Prison, the White Residence Former Site, Hongyanhun Square, 1949 Theater, and Ciqikou bus station.
Consider taking another bus or metro to transfer to T198 at Guidao Ciqikou Station.
