Baisha Film and Television Base Highlights

Jiangjin Baisha Film and Television Base

Baisha Film and Television Base (also known as Chongqing Film City in Jiangjin Baisha or Old Chongqing Film Base) is a unique open-air film set located in Baisha Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing.

Established in 2011 on the site of the former Jiangjin Baisha Sugar Factory—a key sugar production hub in eastern Sichuan during its peak, employing over 500 workers—the base was transformed from an abandoned industrial site into China’s first film shooting location themed around old Chongqing architecture and the Anti-Japanese War era. Over 60 films and TV dramas have been produced here, making it a nostalgic spot for period dramas.

Though active filming has largely ceased, it remains a charming, low-key destination for photography and history enthusiasts.
