Wuling Mountain National Forest Park Review from Sophia Wang

Sophia Wang, a passionate traveler, kindly shared her unforgettable experience exploring Wuling Mountain National Forest Park in Chongqing’s Fuling District during a summer road trip.

Nestled 130 kilometers from downtown Chongqing—a scenic 2.5-hour drive—this karst wonderland boasts lush forests, dramatic peaks, and a 95% forest coverage rate, making it a must-visit for nature lovers.

Sophia visited Wuling Mountain during Chongqing’s summer rainy season, a time when the city’s heat and humidity are punctuated by weeks of persistent rain. Posting on Xiaohongshu (Rednote), she advised against visiting the park on rainy days due to challenging conditions.

“The fog was so thick I had my emergency lights on for most of the drive,” Sophia shared.

“On some roads, visibility dropped to just 2 meters, while others allowed a glimpse up to 5 meters ahead.”

Navigating the winding mountain roads in such weather demanded extra caution, but Sophia’s determination paid off.

Fortunately, the rain paused just long enough to offer a golden window of opportunity. Seizing the moment, Sophia captured stunning photos of the park’s misty karst peaks and vibrant Gesang Flower Sea, where cosmos blooms in shades of pink and purple swayed against a backdrop of rugged cliffs. “

The break in the rain felt like a gift,” she said. “The park’s beauty was breathtaking, with clouds drifting through the valleys like a scene from a dream.”

Wuling Mountain Road to Sky

Despite the challenges of her rainy-day visit, Sophia found Wuling Mountain National Forest Park to be a captivating escape.

Her photos, taken during that brief clear spell, showcase the park’s raw beauty—a reminder that nature’s wonders shine through any weather.
