The Best Fireworks in Chongqing? Changshou Lake Sky Theater Guide
Changshou has always been a bit of a hidden gem—a quiet, low-profile spot located to the Northeast of Chongqing.
We’ve recommended Changshou Lake and the Changshou Lake Cable Car before, but this time, we headed to the Changshou Sky Theater with an open mind to catch a special Labour Day grand production: the Changshou Lake Fireworks Show.
The Changshou Lake Fireworks Show at the Sky Theater will post its show schedule for summer 2026 on June 13. Please stay tuned!
Forget what you know about fireworks
While most people head to Changshou for a quiet lakeside stroll, we discovered something that felt like it belonged in a futuristic Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Created by the legendary team behind the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and Guinness World Record holders from Liuyang, the fireworks at the Changshou Lake Sky Theater are a breathtaking fusion of live theater, drone swarms, and pyrotechnic art.

We’re convinced this spot is about to become a major “Instagrammable” landmark. If you find yourself in Chongqing, you absolutely cannot miss the fireworks at Changshou Lake.

Ticket Booking for International Visitors

How to Buy: You can purchase tickets directly through the “Chongqing Sky Theater” (重庆天空剧院) official WeChat Official Account.
Entry Process: On the day of the performance, do not go through the automated turnstiles. Instead, head to the Manual ID Channel (人工通道).
What to Bring: You must bring your physical Passport. The staff will verify that your identity matches the information used for the ticket booking before allowing entry.
The Ticket Dilemma: Lawn vs. VIP

There are two main ways to experience the show, and here is our honest take:
- Lawn Tickets (198 RMB/person): This is what we chose for our first visit. You get to enjoy the vibe of the crowd, but you cannot see the stage performances directly. You’ll be watching the “live” action on massive outdoor LED screens.
- Theater Seats (398 – 498 RMB/person): These are the VIP seats inside the Sky Theater. If we could go back, we would 100% choose this option. The show is designed as an “immersive companion” experience. To get the most complete, high-definition, and breathtaking view of the choreography and stage effects, being inside the theater is worth every penny.

Performances may be adjusted or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
