Extreme heat conditions are developing rapidly across the region.

• What: Extreme heat with daily maximum temperatures exceeding 37°C (98.6°F).
• When: From 13:00 to 18:00 CST today, July 6, 2026.
• WHERE: 21 districts and counties across Chongqing, including:

Yuzhong, Shapingba, Dadukou, Jiulongpo, Nan’an, High-tech Zone, Beibei, Tongnan, Hechuan, Tongliang, Bishan, Rongchang, Jiangjin, Wanzhou, Kaizhou, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wuxi, Wushan, Wulong, and Pengshui.

LOCALIZED IMPACT (JIULONGPO DISTRICT): High risk specifically identified for 13 subdistricts and towns:

Huangjueping, Yangjiaping, Xipeng, Tongguanyi, Taojia, Huayan, Zhongliangshan, Xiejiawan, Jiulong, Erlang, Shiqiaopu, Yuzhou Road, and Shipingqiao.

HAZARDS AND IMPACTS

• Health: High risk of heatstroke, heat exhaustion, and dehydration, particularly for sensitive groups and outdoor laborers. Increased risk of accidental drowning as individuals seek natural bodies of water to cool off.
• Fire: Significantly elevated risk of wildfires and urban fires due to prolonged high temperatures, low humidity, and heat radiation.
• Infrastructure: Increased strain on the local electrical grid and water supply systems.

PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

• Reduce Exposure: Avoid, reschedule, or drastically shorten outdoor activities and open-air labor during peak afternoon heat.
• Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned environments, and check on vulnerable family members, neighbors, and pets.
• Water Safety: Avoid swimming in unsupervised, wild, or dangerous natural waters. Ensure strict supervision of children.
• Fire Prevention: Exercise extreme caution with open flames. Strictly monitor fire safety at construction sites, during agricultural activities, and during ritual offerings, especially near forests, scenic areas, and historic wooden towns.
• Resource Conservation: Practice energy and water conservation measures to minimize strain on public utilities during peak hours.
