I’m Haonan (Kevin) Deng, a travel blogger based in Chongqing, China.
Born and raised in Chongqing, a vibrant city brimming with life and warmth, I’ve been shaped by its streets and landscapes, each holding memories of my joys and challenges.
I created WelcomeCQ.cn to help foreign visitors to get the most out of Chongqing. I hope WelcomeCQ becomes a comprehensive resource for visitors and residents alike. Ultimately, I aspire for this website to attract more people to my beautiful hometown.
My Story
My journey took a new direction during middle school when I enrolled in a Canadian international high school in Chongqing. Immersed in Western perspectives and educational approaches, I graduated and moved to Canada to complete my bachelor’s degree.
For the last ten years, I lived in Kamloops, a small town where, interestingly, the North and South Thompson Rivers converge—much like the confluence of the Jianglin and Yangtze Rivers in Chongqing. After earning my graduate degree, I spent three years working in a public institution in British Columbia.
In 2024, I returned to Chongqing, eager to start my own business in digital marketing. I also launched WelcomeCQ to help those wishing to visit, stay, and live in Chongqing.

I am now a digital marketer running my marketing agency EArk Digital Marketing. I am also a travel blogger runing my website WelcomeCQ.cn. All the while, I help small businesses or non-profit organizations to develop their website.
Currently, I am running this website like a hobby, but still trying to look for ways to monitize it, and hopefully turn it into a full time business. If you have some ideas, feel free to reach out to me, and I would be greatly appreiciated.
My Travel Style
I used to travel with friends a lot, but now I travel solo or with my mom, documenting, filming and photographing interesting things that come along my journey.
In terms of travel cost, I lean more towards the affordability.
